MPG's 2008 in Review
For some reason, I'm deciding to update this journal for the first time in who knows how long. This was quite the year. It started off with something very exciting, which my family had been awaiting for about fifteen years. My father, an amateur screenwriter, finally got a movie produced. "My Gay Christian Baby," formerly titled "Misonceptions," will hit theaters this summer.

Barely two weeks after production ended, the greatest tragedy of my life occurred: My dear friend, Max Adler, died in an accident on the subway. Max and I had been friends since the fourth grade, and we lived around the corner from each other. I was fortunate enough to see him shortly before the tragedy. He lives on forever in my mind, and a day has not gone by since then I have not thought of him.

I graduated college in May, which I suppose is a major milestone, though I don't feel like a grownup in the slightest. I am even less sure of what I want to do with my life than when I was eighteen, since college taught me primarily how complicated everything is and how little people really know. Which is an important lesson.

There are also, of course, the events that everybody is concerned with, mainly, the recession and the election of Obama. These are rough times, and fortunately, I am well supported. I have hopes that the Obama Administration will revitalize the economy and change America.

All right, well, that's Mickey's livejournal post. Maybe I'll post one at the end of 2009, if not sooner. Who knows what the future holds? Who knows who still reads this? Take care.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend Mickey. It seems strange to say "HAppy New Year" after that.

Congratulations to your dad. I will go and see it even though I hardly EVER see movies, and whoever I go with, I will tell them: "I know the screen writers son, yeah MPG! Me and him are old pals."
